The Foundation that drives evidence-based research, maternal and neonatal health innovation, and social empowerment
Africa has one of the highest rates of twin and multiple births in the world, particularly in countries such as Nigeria, Benin, and Ghana. Despite this remarkable phenomenon, there remains a significant gap in understanding the genetic, environmental, cultural, and health-related factors associated with multiple births on the continent.
The African Twins and Multiple Births Research Foundation (ATMBRF) is dedicated to advancing knowledge, awareness, and support related to twin and multiple births across Africa. The Foundation focuses on research, education, and advocacy to better understand the biological, medical, social, and cultural dimensions of twin and multiple births within African populations.
Through interdisciplinary research and strategic partnerships with academic institutions, healthcare providers, and community organizations, the Foundation works to improve maternal and child health outcomes, inform public health policy, and preserve indigenous knowledge and cultural practices associated with twins and multiples.
